Mega Parc’s Cloud Coaster is “on track” for installation

Roller coaster scheduled for installation this July.

Sacramento, CA (May 2018)

Extreme Engineering’s Cloud Coaster, the first roller coaster to go through a Ferris Wheel in North America, is on schedule for installation at Mega Parc in Quebec, Canada.  Installation of this attraction will start mid June / early July of 2018.  As the roller coaster track is being laser-cut and precision welded, the Cloud Coaster project is schedule for a smooth installation. The “steampunk” themed family coaster will offer 405 linear feet of coaster track where guests will be flying high in the air and through a hub-less Ferris wheel.

“It’s starting to become more of a reality when we can see track and coaster carts being built.  Seeing Cloud Coaster parts on the assembly line creates a huge sense of excitement for the team,” says Phil Wilson, Executive Vice President with Extreme Engineering.  Extreme Engineering’s 45,000 square foot facility consists of AWS welders, precision tooling and computer CAD driven cutting machinery, all exceeding ASTM and other industry standards.  “It’s awesome seeing our process at work, manufacturing precision parts within days,” states Wilson.

Installation is expected to be completed within weeks after delivery, months before the grand opening in November 2018.  “We can’t wait to see the coaster in operation and ride the attraction firsthand.  This is going to be a one-of-a-kind experience,” says Matt Rehnstrom, V.P. of Sales for Extreme Engineering.  The Cloud Coaster will offer a low-voltage lift system, a patent pending “M.B.S.” eddy-current braking device and the all-new single rider cart design that was unveiled at IAAPA in 2017.  “The new cart design will take the ride experience to a whole new level.  This cart design was created with flying in mind, you truly feel like flying an airplane in this seat,” says Wilson.

Extreme Engineering will also be advertising the completion of the project at this year’s IAAPA in Florida, along with several new projects slated to open this year and early of 2019.  New product video will be debuted at the trade show, along with footage of Mega Parc’s grand opening.  With IAAPA Asia’s trade show within just weeks away (June 6-8th), Extreme Engineering will be also debuting the all-new tandem cart with an all-new trade show display at booth location 1633.  “This is going to be a great IAAPA Asia for us in Hong Kong.  We have a lot of new projects, products and services to discuss,” says Wilson.
